This recognition confirms what the entire Ricochet team already knows: Caterina is an essential pillar for people experiencing homelessness in the West Island, for her colleagues and for the broader community.

A compassionate leader transforming psychosocial intervention

Since joining Ricochet in January 2021, Caterina has distinguished herself through her expertise, leadership and unwavering dedication to marginalized individuals. Now responsible for coordinating programs and projects, she has helped shape Ricochet into a true living environment grounded in dignity, autonomy and social reintegration.

She fully embodies the spirit of the CTD Foundation Awards, which celebrate community leaders capable of creating lasting impact and inspiring others to take action.

Innovative projects that change lives

Among her most significant achievements, Caterina designed and developed Survivors for Survivors, a project launched in November 2024 to address an urgent need: more than 50% of women experiencing homelessness have lived or are living through domestic violence.

With its intersectional and anti-oppressive approach, this innovative project helps women survivors rebuild, regain a sense of safety and take back control of their lives.

Caterina also oversees a wide range of essential community-based initiatives and programs, including:

  • Veteran services, adapted to the trauma many have experienced;

  • The Youth Project (18–35), focused on preventing chronic homelessness;

  • Projet Logement Montréal, which supports young adults through rent subsidies and ongoing psychosocial follow-up;

  • Social mediation services, fostering inclusion and community dialogue;

  • The Seniors Project, developed to meet growing needs and provide tailored support for older adults.

She has also developed a series of practical workshops on sexual health, rights and responsibilities, budgeting, substance use, housing and more. These learning spaces provide beneficiaries with concrete tools to develop new skills, strengthen their autonomy and continue progressing toward full social reintegration.

A media presence that raises awareness and mobilizes the community

Caterina’s impact extends far beyond Ricochet’s walls. She has consistently lent her voice with authenticity and clarity during pivotal moments for the organization. Her media interviews have helped raise public awareness about homelessness in the West Island and mobilize the community around this important issue.

Her recurring appearances — including impactful interviews with CityNews — showcase her empathy, her clarity and her ability to bring people together. Every time she speaks, she highlights with strength and sensitivity the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness.

A human presence that brings people together and inspires change

Beyond the projects she leads, Caterina plays a vital role within the Ricochet team and the community. She provides unwavering support to psychosocial workers, offers clinical supervision, mentors interns and contributes to the professional development of every team member.

Caterina never sees a “case,” but a person — a person with a story, a dignity and a potential waiting to be recognized. This deeply human perspective guides every one of her interventions and inspires the entire team.

A natural bridge-builder, she values partnerships, nurtures teamwork and contributes to an organizational culture that is inclusive, compassionate and collaborative. Her authenticity and her ability to connect people significantly amplify Ricochet’s impact in the West Island.

A well-deserved recognition

The Award for Psychosocial Work was presented to Caterina among many nominees, a powerful testament to her exceptional commitment and the outstanding quality of her work.

Ricochet extends its warmest thanks to the Teresa Dellar Community Foundation, whose mission is to highlight individuals who embody Teresa Dellar’s spirit of service, humanity and solidarity. By recognizing Caterina’s work, the Foundation underscores the essential role of psychosocial support and honours the professionals who work every day to improve the well-being of the most vulnerable members of our community.

The entire team celebrates this recognition, which honours a passionate professional, an inspiring colleague and a deeply caring human being.

Congratulations, Caterina. Thank you for your dedication, your courage and your heart. You make Ricochet shine and you change lives.
