Internship Opportunities at Ricochet
Joining Ricochet as an intern means diving into the heart of homelessness and residential instability issues in the West Island. We provide a human-centered and dynamic learning environment where the exchange of expertise is highly valued: we share our field experience with you, while you bring us your fresh perspective and new ideas.

General Criteria

Be currently enrolled in a recognized educational institution (international students are welcome)

Study in a field related to psychosocial work such as social work, social service, criminology, special care counseling or psychology.

Be 18 years of age or older

Be proficient in both English and French (bilingual environment)

Your Mandate
The intern's primary mission is to ensure the well-being of individuals experiencing homelessness or residential instability. Working alongside our psychosocial intervention team, you will actively contribute to the stability and dignity of our beneficiaries.
A Complexe and Demanding Environment
It is important to note that Ricochet serves an extremely vulnerable population living in situations of great precariousness. As an intern, you will be in direct contact with individuals who are often unstable and may face complex challenges, including severe mental health issues, substance use and trauma. This environment requires a high level of emotional maturity, professional boundaries and resilience.
Description of Responsibilities
Welcoming & Presence

Participate in welcoming beneficiaries in a respectful, non-judgmental and supportive manner

Help create a safe and inclusive environment on the floor
Support & Observation
-
Observe interventions and learn different approaches (harm reduction, empowerment, active listening)
-
Support staff in day-to-day interactions with beneficiaries
-
Practice active listening and appropriate communication with supervision
Daily Living Support
-
Assist with daily activities alongside staff and beneficiaries
-
Encourage participation of beneficiaries in daily routines
Program Participation
-
Assist in facilitating workshops or group activities (youth, seniors, financial literacy, etc.)

Help prepare materials and set up activities
Administrative Support
-
Support basic administrative tasks (filing, organizing documents, updating simple records)

Assist in preparing activity summaries or reports when needed
Follow-ups & Engagement
-
Participate in informal follow-ups with beneficiaries (with guidance)

Help maintain a welcoming and consistent presence within the space
Team Collaboration

Attend team meetings, debriefs, and supervision sessions

Be open to feedback and reflective learning
Ethics & Professionalism

Maintain professional boundaries at all times

Location: Ricochet Center (9451 Gouin Blvd. West, Pierrefonds)

Schedule: Day or evening shifts only

Supervision: Evaluation and clinical supervision are provided by Chad Olson, Clinical Lead
Selection Process
Selected candidates will be invited for an interview. Interview periods are as follows:

Fall Semester: Interviews in April and May

Winter Semester: Interviews in November and December
